Mr. v Wanroy had very strong believes when it came to racing pigeons. He knew exactly what he wanted and set about finding it. There were several criteria that had to met in the bird. First was strength. The birds frame had to rsist all forces, no give what so ever in the vents. The second was the feather which had to be as soft as possible. The third was the eyes with pupils very small and with incredible colours and depth. Each bird had to show character and have that will to fight on. Last but not least, they had to be small.

He found what he was looking for in the old Hansennes in the lofts of Fabry, Hornsta, Bricoux and Delbar from Staf Dusaruyn. Over time he was always on the look out for that something special and he found that at Hector Desmet[ son of Prins} Gerrit Janssen and at Westerhuis. The four base birds that were the foundation of his family were the The 90, Black hen, 372 De Maaskant Black Cock, 113 de Blauwkras hen, and the 752 De Zwartkrasdoffer cock. Others also played an important roll such as the Westerhuis cock and the owe Spin but these came later on.

These birds can be found in the pedigree of many successful fanciers in both Holland and Belgium. To name a few, J.B Hendriks, Ben Hendriks, Gebr. Kuipers, Van Hee, Huub Jongen, Huub, Reupsaet, Jan Hendrix, Ceelen, Remunt, Stekete, v. Geel, Sprenkels, Rinus de Ruyter Eijerkamp and one hell of a pile of names of others who won 1st National, 1st International, 1st Provincial in all the long distance events. These birds still show up in pedigrees of the European winners of today.

For us, more than half the birds in our race team have the van Wanroy blood on one side. It was the best move that I have ever made. I love there size and I love the soft feather on the young birds. These birds are never afraid of you, are not wild and always rule the roost. You'll find they fly longer, eat less and stay healthier with a lot less fuss and bother.

If Jeff were alive today I would certainly want to thank him for the fine family of racers that he has created.
